Married Harvey 27 Jan 1855 in Davenport, IA

Obit:
Nancy Jane McMullen was born in Richland Grove Township, Mercer Co, IL, April 3, 1840. She died at her home in New Windsor, Saturday, February 20, 1909, aged 68 years, 10 months and 17 days. She was married September 27, 1855 at Davenport, Iowa to Harvey McMullen, who died November 14, 1899. She was the mother of 10 children, of these six survive (4 sons and 2 daughters) to mourn a mother's death. They are Charles living near North Henderson, Ill; Hugh of Sidney, Iowa; Ed of Alpha, Ill; James of Delta, Iowa; Mrs. Charlotte Wilson of Reynolds, Ill and Mrs. Ella Meeker of North Henderson. "Aunt Jane" as she was familiarly known to her friends and neighbors, was for several years a sufferer from cancer. She made a brave fight against the disease but to no avail. She was a humble follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. During her long illness she suffered constantly and severely, yet without complaint. Several times she expressed to the writer a longing to go home, to be free forever from pain and suffering. Then in the spirit of the Lord and Master she would say, "Not as I will, but as the Lord wills." She was willing to bear her cross of pain, of suffering, knowing that ere long she would go to that country where there is no pain nor suffering any more. "Aunt Jane" has finished her work here on earth, her journey is end. She is free from pain and suffering. The doors of the unseen city, her heavenly home have opened, and she has entered into the joy of her Lord. The Funeral services were conducted by the writer in the Congregational Chruch in New Windsor, Ill, Tuesday, February 22, 1909 at 10 o'clock am. her mortal remains were laid away in the beautiful cemetery at Swedona, Ill to await the coming of her Lord.
