Sgt. Ned Rentmeister
SYRACUSE—Graveside services for Sgt. Ned Rentmeister 26, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eli E. Rentmeister, Syracuse, who was killed in Italy, October 14, 1944, will be conducted Saturday at 2 p.m. in Syracuse cemetery with Lawrence I. Criddle, bishop, Syracuse Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, officiating.
Military honors will be accorded by Col. Fred J. Grant, post No. 1451, Veterans of Foreign Wars. Lindquist and Sons mortuary are in charge of arrangements.
Sgt. Rentmeister and other members of a B-24 bomber crew were killed when their craft crashed.
He was born April 13, 1918 in Syracuse, a son of Eli E. And Della Criddle Rentmeister. A graduate of Davis county high school, he had been active in L.D.S. church work. He engaged in farming with his father and later was employed by Moore Electric Co., Hill Air Force Base.
Sgt. Rentmeister entered service in August, 1943, and was graduated from aerial gunnery school at Laredo, Tex., March 1, 1944.
In October, 1943, his son, Larry, was presented the air medal posthumously at Hill A.F.B.
Surviving are his son of Clinton, his parents and two brothers. Mrs. June R. DeSilva, Ogden; James H. Rentmeister, Layton, and Donald Rentmeister, Syracuse.
