"CAPTAIN FRITZ ABBLEY DEAD"

"HIS DEMISE OCCURRED SUDDENLY THIS MORNING"

"Was a Popular Ship Island Bar Pilot"

"This morning at 6 o'clock Capt. Fritz Abbley, one of Biloxi's most respected citizens, died suddenly at his home on Reynoir street in north Biloxi. He had suffered an attack of lagrippe for several weeks, but apparantly had recovered and yesterday appeared to be in fairly good health and excellent spirits. Capt. Abbley was 60 years old, a native of Germany and for more than 50 years had been a resident of Biloxi. He was one of the Ship Island pilots and no one knew the waters contiguous to that port more thoroughly than did this veteran navigator. Capt. Abbley leaves a widow, four daughters and three sons to mourn his death. His daughter are: Mrs. J. P. E. McCabe of Biloxi, Mrs. Harry Haise of Mobile, and Misses (Laura) and Pauline Abbley of Biloxi. His sons are Adolf, Fred and Emile Abbley, all of this city. He also leaves a sister, Mrs. Santa Cruz, a resident of Biloxi. The funeral will take place from the family residence tomorrow afternoon at 3 o'clock. With the many friends of the bereaved family The Herald joins in sympathy and condolence".
