Adam Hess 81, native and lifelong resident of this community, died this morning at his home on St. Main St. He was born on a farm in Swan Twp March 24, 1853. He married Margaret Berkes Sept. 24, 1882 and they resided on this same farm until 1915 when they moved to Avilla. Surviving are the widow and 6 children, Mrs. Henry Keck, Henry Hess, Mrs. Bert Hoot, and Mrs. Floyd Hoot, all of near here, and Lawrence and Miss Beulah at home; 9 grandchildren; and a twin brother, John residing in Kendallville. Funeral Wednesday from the Evangelical Lutheran Church of which he had been a lifetime member. Burial, Lutheran Cemetery
