Obituary of Alice L Greenslade
Alice Laura Greenslade, daughter of Arthur and Agnes Rasmussen Cardwell was born October 23, 1903 at Rural Scandia, Kansas and passed away on March 31, 1997 at the Republic County Hospital, Belleville, Kansas at the age of 93 years , 5 month, 8 days.
Alice received her education in the public school in Republic County.
Alice was united in marriage to John Duaine Greenslade on June 27, 1926 and to this union two daughters were born, Norma Jean and Phyllis Marie.
She was a member of the Amana Lutheran Church of Scandia, Kansas, Lutheran Church Women, Triple L Club, American Legion Auxiliary, Pushers Club, Ophel Chapter # 115 Order of Eastern Star of Belleville, Kansas, Widows Club, former member of Sorosis Study Club.
She was always aware of what was going on and was really interested in her family, Community, Church. She loved to cook, made jelly and was considered an excelled pie maker. She liked to play cards and loved to be on the go.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Agnes Cardwell, Husband, John Duaine Greenslade, One Granddaughter, Michelle Thull, Two Twin Great Granddaughters, Korin and Elisha Schroeder, One Grandson Jim Jensik, Two Brothers, Homer and Todd Cardwell.
She is survived by two Daughters, Norma J Aspegren and her husband Delbert of Rural Courtland, Kansas, Phyllis Thull and her husband Jack of Cawker City, Kansas, Eight Grandchildren, Phyllis Jensik, Ron Aspegren and his wife Connie, Jean Anna Carlgren and her husband Ed, Carrie Stehno and her husband Mark, Tom Thull and his wife Shelly, Rita Schroeder and her husband Leon, Steven Thull and his wife Belinda, Brent Thull and his wife Karie, Sixteen Great Grandchildren, Wade and Angie Jensik, Ryan, Lisa, Bret Carlgren, Quinn and Sarah Aspegren, Andrew and Casey Thull, Kurstan, Keegan, Kealan Schroeder, Malonie and Cody Thull, Kameran and Hayden Thull, One Brother,George Cardwell of Scandia, Kansas, Two sisters-in law Minnie Cardwell and Vernice Cardwell, Nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Memorial may be given to the Amana Lutheran Church or the American Legion.
Funeral service was held at Amana Lutheran Church, Scandia , Kansas, Friday April 4, 1997 at two o'clock pm.
Conducted by Pastor Bradford Bray, Music by the Granddaughters, Organist Mrs Jan Melhus. Casket bearers Ron Aspergren, Steven Thull, Tom Thull, Brent Thull, Ed Carlgren, Wade Jensik. Honorary Casket Bearers were Leon Schroeder, Mark Stehno, Ryan Carlgren, Bret Carlgren, Kurstan Schroeder, Andrew Thull, Cody Thull, Haden Thull.
Interment was held at the Lutheran Cemetery.
Bachelor-Surber Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
