Dorothy "Dot" Lindsay Dixon
Hickory, N.C. - Dorothy "Dot" Lindsay Dixon, 85, of Hickory, passed away Aug. 25, 2009, at her residence.
Born May 11, 1924, in Burke County, she was the daughter of the late Cyrus Perry and Texie Hoyle Lindsay.
Mrs. Dixon was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Hickory. She worked for Del-Mark as office manager until her retirement after 41 years of service; she also worked for the American Red Cross for three years. She loved to travel, cook, entertain, dance and attend the opera, and she also enjoyed being a homemaker. Dot was a very gracious lady. She was a devoted and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and aunt. She will be sorely missed by all who knew her and were beneficiaries of her caring spirit.
She is survived by her husband, Charles D. Dixon of the home; one son, William P. Dixon of Raleigh; three daughters, Janice D. Key of Charleston, S.C., Mary Anne Hubbard of Cary and Ellen D. Law of Lexington, Mass.; a brother and sister-in-law, Harold J. and Eleanor L. Lindsay of Hildebran; a sister and brother-in-law, Margaret L. and Edward Vinay of High Point; two sisters-in-law, Frankie Dixon of Belmont and Virginia C. Lindsay of Hickory; six granddaughters; five grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles R. Lindsay and Jack A. Lindsay; and her two previous husbands, Wade W. Turner and Frank K. Baker. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 29, 2009, at First Presbyterian Church, and will be conducted by the Rev. Deborah McEachran.
Burial will be at 10 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery, preceding the service.
