BILLINGS, JAMES E., 69, died Sunday, May 8, 2005, at Trinity Mission Nursing Home. Services were held Tuesday, May 10, 2005, at Forest Hill Funeral Home East in Memphis with burial in Forest Hill Cemetery East there. He was a member of Mullins Station Baptist Church. He leaves five daughters, Teresa Marcum, Pamela Massengill, Deborah Crapa, Donna Hollifield and Kimberly Kelley, all of Byhalia; two sisters, Jean Murphy of Memphis and Marie Billings of Southaven; two brothers, David Billings of Monette, Mo., and Jack Billings of Memphis, 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. The family requests that any memorials be sent to the American Cancer Society or Diabetes Foundation.
This is my uncle Sonny. His first wife was Barbara Dean Tubbs and they had four beautiful girls: Debbie, Pam, Donna and Teresa. We used to visit them a lot when I was a kid.
Sometime in the 1970's Sonny began living with a woman named Flo and her daughter Penny. I believe they were together long enough that Flo became his common law wife.
His third wife was for many years known as Shirley but her real name was Dorothy Daniels. She was a very sweet woman and she predeceased him by 6 years.
