Elnora Dew Bradrick Wages, the daughter of Ernest Bascom and Ina Marie
(Strong) Dew, was born on February 3, 1920 at Smithland, Kentucky. She passed away on August 23, 2009 at the Superior Good Samaritan Society in Superior, Nebraska at the age of 89 years, 6 months and 20 days.
She went to high school in Salem, Kentucky and graduated in 1939. On Feb. 2, 1940, Elnora married Richard L. Bradrick in Morganville, Kansas. They had met through Richard's maternal grandfather, Dr. Richard Stewart, of Morganville, who had married Elnora's maternal aunt, Effie Strong. To this marriage three sons were born, Ronald Dew, Maurice Allen and Richard Warren.
The family lived in the Ideal Cement plant village for 36 years until Richard died suddenly while at work on Aug. 10, 1976. Shortly after Richard passed away, Elnora moved into the town of Superior.
In the fall of 1980 she married Roland A. Wages. Roland and Elnora made their home at 526 N. National St. until Roland passed away in 1992. Elnora lived in this house for 30 years before selling it and moving to the Vestey Center.
During her life, Elnora worked for many years in Superior at various businesses including the J. C. Penney store, the Superior Style Shop, the Leslie TV Store, the Leslie Hotel and the Plains Motel.
She was a Girl Scout leader in the 1940s, worked with the 4-H Club, taught Sunday school at the Methodist Church, became President of the Church Circle, was Co-Chairwomen of the Extension Club, and participated in the Ladies Auxiliary at the Ideal Cement Plant.
Elnora was preceded in death by her parents, two half-brothers, William Nash from Kentucky and James Dew of Tennessee; two half-sisters, Mary Nash Talley of Kentucky and Glenda Nash Stallins of Florida, her first husband, Richard Bradrick and her second husband, Roland Wages; one son, Richard W. Bradrick of Missouri, and one granddaughter, Jill K. Bradrick of Omaha.
She is survived by two sons and their wives, Ronald D. Bradrick and his wife Sharon of Omaha; Maurice A. Bradrick and his wife Judy of San Diego; one daughter-in-law, Brenda Werkmeister of St. Louis, one step-daughter; Roslyn Aden of Superior; six grandchildren, Sean Bradrick of Omaha, Shelton Bradrick, and his wife Lisa of Durham, North Carolina; Brittany Bradrick of San Francisco; Scott Bradrick of St. Louis; Erin Bradrick of New York City and Allison Bradrick of Portland, Oregon; one half-sister, Joyce Cain of North Carolina and one half-brother, Randle Dew of Florida;
other relatives and a host of friends.
