PROVIDENCE, UTAH: Norvel Nog Hansen, was born in 1925 on a large farm in College Ward, Utah where he learned the value of hard work. He was the fifteenth of seventeen children.

Nog was educated in Cache County, where he became an active leader in high school athletics and activities. He graduated from South Cache High School in 1943, and like many of his classmates, was drafted into military service. He served in the European campaign, including the Battle of the Bulge.

Upon his return from service, he went to Utah State University where he played football and basketball. He earned Bachelors and Masters degrees in physical education, graduating in 1950. Nog coached at Bonneville High School in Idaho until 1955 when he went to Helena, Montana as football coach. He was very successful in Montana and was voted Coach of the Year in 1957. In 1961, he returned to USU on the coaching staff of several sports. His last twenty years at the University were spent as assistant athletic director.

Nog married Eloise Christensen Jones in 1963. He is survived by his wife and three daughters, Susan and Lynn Jaggi; LaDawn and Kent Coburn; Bonnie and David Odd. He has 15 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, three brothers and one sister, Bill Hansen, College Ward; Dell Brownie Hansen, Nibley; Robert Hansen, Logan; Rhoda Duce, Lancaster, CA.

Nog was a long-time member of the Big Blue Club and the Old Main Society at Utah State. He was voted a member of the All-Century Football Team. He was always an Aggie. He also served in may callings in the LDS Church, including, Elders Quorum President, High Priest Group Leadership and as a Bishops counselor.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1:00 pm in the Providence Ward Chapel, 155 North 100 East. Friends may call at the Allen-Hall Mortuary Friday evening from 6-8 pm and at the church on Saturday from 11:30 - 12:30. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery.
