Henrich Rueffer came to the United States and Texas from Germany in 1892. He came alone. In 1893, he sent his son, August Rueffer a ticket which landed him in Galveston. His son was 16 years old at the time. The family stayed in South Texas for many years. The family moved to Haskell County in 1907 and in 1908, moved to the lands north of Haskell where they spent the rest of their lives.
