Excerps from "Pioneer Heritage: A McColley Family History" by Dallas G. McColley, 1993, pgs 9-15. Alexander McColley and Polly Razey were married September 27, 1827 in New York. Around 1831/32, they moved to the Ashtabula/Trumbell County, Ohio area. Between 1844 and 1846, they moved to Wisconsin; first to Milwaukee County and then Columbia County. Several of their children moved to Minnesota and with their sons serving in the Civil War and away from their families and farms, Alexander and Polly decided to move to Faribault County, Minnesota in the fall of 1864. They purchased a farm in Delavan township. In the fall of 1865, Alexander and Polly and their daughter, Electa (Mrs Charles Morehouse), went back to Wisconsin to visit friends and relatives. On their return trip to Minnesota, Alexander became ill and died suddenly on October 17th at Tower Hotel near Lisbon, Wisconsin. When son Nathaniel was discharged, he lived with his mother on the farm and would eventually buy the farm. By 1880, Polly was living in Beauford and making her home with her daughter Electa and Charley Morehouse, where she died December 13, 1890.

Alexander's name and dates are also listed on the tombstone. His name was probably placed on the stone "in memoriam" without he actually being buried there.

Alexander and Polly are my great great great grandparents and I've done considerable research on the family, including publishing a book in 1993. I'm interested in sharing info with other McColley family researchers.
