CATLEGE, -- died on Sunday, the 17th of April of typhoid fever at his residence in Winston County, MS, Deacon Alson Catledge, aged 49 years and two days. Deceased was a native of SC but left that state early in life, being only about 12 years of age when his father [Elijah Catledge] moved thence, and settled in Tuscaloosa County, AL, in which, and the adjoining county of Fayette, the youth and early manhood of our brother was spent. Here he was baptised by Elder D.W. Andrews. He moved to this state in 1847, just 11 years prior to his death. He united in the constitution of Noxumbee Church. Survived by wife [Lavina McMillan] and [11] children."
