GRAYSVILLE - Enid Shields Monk, 98, of Grand Rapids, Mich., and formerly of Graysville died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, in Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids.
She was born Sept. 11, 1904, in Graysville to Clyde Harrison Shields and Maria Cushman Shields. The Indiana University graduate taught at Graysville and Sullivan high schools. She was a member of Graysville United Methodist Church, Daughters of the Americal Revolution, Delta Kappa Gamma and the Indiana Retired Teachers Association.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Mervin Harold Monk, and one son Dwight Shields Monk.
She is survived by two sons, Duane M. Monk, Grand Rapids, and Lester Cushman Monk, Venice, Fla.; one sister Eliner Shields Fallert, Oak Park, Ill.; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services are 11 a.m. Monday in Graysville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Curtis Bond officiating. Burial is in Crow Cemetery, near Graysville. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until services Monday. Banks & Brust Funeral Home assisted with arrangements. In liew of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Clark Retirement community Foundation.
