Earle Abbott, yeoman second class, a member of the Coast Guard, went into the service in July, 1942, and trained at Alameda, CA. Stationed in San Francisco, he was assigned to work in Fresno and Eureka. Abbott, the son of William Roy and Hazel Irene (Sprague) Abbott, was a teacher in a Hanford Elementary School prior to entering the service.

Earle was graduated from Lemoore High School in 1934 and attended Fresno State College and the University of Southern California. He also received his Master's Degree from the University of Redlands school of music and studied voice for seven years.

Earle married Rose Magdalen Waite on June 8, 1949 in Monterey Co., CA. They are the parents of Mary Inez Abbott, born in 1951.

In addition to teaching in a Hanford Elementary School, he taught at McKinley Elememtary School in Redlands in 1947. He worked for Patton State Hospital and was an adult school teacher in San Bernardino before moving to Yucaipa Elementary where he taught for 22 years, retiring in 1979. He directed the school choir in the annual Christmas programs for 20 years in addition to his teaching duties.

Abbott was well known in musical circles, having been heard on numerous radio broadcasts. He was the adult choir director at Redlands Sacred Heart Church and St. Bernardino Church in San Bernardino, and a popular featured tenor soloist at many local events, sometimes accompanying himself at the piano. He also was associated with the music therapy department at Patton State Hospital.
