Alvie Wood Dies; Funeral Set On Tuesday Morning

Alvie O. Wood, 66, died at 9 a.m. Sunday at the family home, 943 S. Shank St., Portland, following an illness of several month. Mr. Wood was employed at Sheller Globe Manufacturing Corp. for a mumber of years.
Friends may call at the the Baird Freeman Funeral Home until the hour of the service 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Rev. Harold Weller officiating and internment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Pennville.
The Rosary will be recited at the funeral home at 7:30 a.m. Monday.
Mr. Wood was born at Pennville on Feb. 27, 1890, son of James and Wilda (McGrew) Wood. He first married in 1909 to Margaret E. Walker, who died on July 11, 1937. He then married Minnie Tieben, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Earl Stroble; three sons, Cecil and Charles Wood, both of Ridgeville, and Walter Wood of Redkey; 15 grandchildren and twp great grandchildren.
Mr. Wood was a member of the Catholic church here and of the Holy Name Society.
