Abraham Lape, one of the few surviving Civil war veterans, died Wednesday afternoon, November 21, 1934, at 1 o'clock in his home at Waltersburg. Death followed a brief illness of complications.
Surviving are five children: John Lape, Mrs. Rose Churchman, Rolla Lape and Mrs. Lizzie Krepps, all of Waltersburg, and Mrs. Mary McCune, Beaver Falls. Twenty-two grandchildren and 66 great grandchildren also survive.
Brief services at 2:30 o'clock Friday afternoon in the residence will be followed by additional rites in Pleasant View Presbyterian church, Chestnut Ridge. The church pastor, Rev. J. Byers Brice, will officiate, assisted by Rev. Logan Wells, of Waltersburg. Burial in the church cemetery. Mr. Lape was a member of the Will F. Stewart Post, No. 180 Grand Army of the Republic
