Mitchell and Adeline Cohen were my friends, though I was the age of their oldest son, Alvin. Stopping by their clothing store in downtown Tuscola became the highlight of many of my days. I'd sit and visit with them and pass many happy moments in their presence. They both had time, or perhaps took time, to tell me a story or amusing incident in their lives. Their little "tiffs" and differences of opinion only served to endear them to me. They were being themselves, not whitewashing their public lives in front of me. They were candid and forthright in their views, which also engendered my respect.

I did my shopping at their store when in my early twenties, and always enjoyed the experience of being both customer and friend. [They drove a hard bargain and I couldn't get any discounts!] I'd sometimes see them in their home setting when visiting with Alvin and/or Jerry [younger brother]. They always treated me respectfully and in a cordial manner. I miss them both, and think of them often.

Mitchell and Adeline had two sons:
1. Alvin [1947]
2. Jerome [1949]
