Oronoco - Anthony Alderson, retired banker and former Oronoco township farmer, died suddenly at his home yesterday. He was 78 years old.
Mr. Alderson, who succumbed unexpectedly to a heart ailment, resided many years on a farm on the Oronoco-Farmington township line that was pre-empted as a homestead by his father, Richard Alderson, in 1884.
Born in Wisconsin February 9, 1862, he married Miss Mary Rodius in June, 1896. He had resided in the villag since 1917.
Mr. Alderson was president of the Oronoco State Bank until it merged with the Security State Bank of Pine Island.
Surviving are a brother, Fred, of Rochester, two nieces, Miss Madge Alderson, of Rochester, and Miss Ina Alderson of Portland, Ore., and three nephews, Dr. Lee Alderson of Missoula, Mont., Donald of Minneapolis and Richard of Monmouth, Ore. His wife died March 14, 1932.
Funeral services will be conducted in the home 2 p.m. tomorrow, with Rev. L. C. McEwen officiating and interment in the Oronoco cemetery. Publication: Post-Bulletin, Rochester, Minnesota, Monday, Dec. 2, 1940
