MARY E. TISH SERVICES HELD

Mary E. Tish, 77, of 90 Fourth Ave., Grinnell, died Sunday, Sept. 13, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the Grinnell Christian Church, officiating. Organist was Jolene Jones, and vocalist was Betty Snook. Jean Barr was in charge of flowers.

Pallbearers were Carroll Anderson, Chester Barr, Floyd Barr, John Barr, Doyle Milligan and Fred Weaver.

Burial was in the West Liberty Cemetery east of Searsboro.

The daughter of James W. and Elizabeth Schill Milligan, she was born near Kellogg on April 26, 1910. She attended rural school.

On July 5, 1930, she was married to Walter H. Tish at Barnes City. The couple farmed near Ewart and New Sharon, moved to Minnesota during the Depression, returned to Grinnell, then moved to Ames in 1941. Mrs. Tish had lived in Ames for over 30 years where she cooked for a boarding house at Iowa State University. She returned to Grinnell in 1972.

She is survived by her son, William of Grinnell; a daughter, Jean Yates of Russellville, Ark.; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and four step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; five sisters, Ethel Barr, Maude Anderson, Cora McIlrath, Minnie Mattingly and Emily Tinnermier; and three brothers, Charles, McKinley and Ted Milligan.
