WALTER DEN HARTOG

Funeral services were held Friday, September 11, at the First Reformed church of Hospers for Walter Den Hartog, 71, of Hospers, who passed away on Thursday, September 9, at the Orange City Community hospital. Rev. M. Tysen officiated. The men's quartet of the First Reformed church sang "Lead Me To Calvary" and "A Child Of The King."

Mr. Den Hartog was born February 26, 1894 at Alton and married Mary Vande Steeg on September 1, 1925 at Orange City. They farmed near Hospers all their married life.

Surviving are the widow, two sons, Marion of Le Mars, John Gilbert of Ethiopia, and a daughter, Corrine (Mrs. Carl Folkers) of Archer, two brothers, John of Hospers and Ed of Sheldon, a sister, Mrs. Gertrude Grotenhuis of Hospers, and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Robert Den Hartog, Willard Den Hartog, Alvin Den Hartog, John Huygens, Bert Solsma and John Scholten. Burial was in the Hospers cemetery.
