Mr. and Mrs. owen Eckler of Westville have recieved notice from the war Department that their son, Ford Eckler, had died of pneumonia at a base hospital in France. Mr. Eckler was 24 yearsof age and left Oneonta September 27, 1917, for Camp Devens. He was a member of the 303rd Infantry and sailed for France about July 1st of the present year. His younger brother, Leon Eckler was also a member of the American Expeditionary Force and died a few weeks ago in service in France.
