Gertrude Blaylock Paxton, 87, of Eupora died Nov. 3, 2005, at Waverly Nursing Home in West Point.

Mrs. Paxton, a retired homemaker, was a native and lifelong resident of Webster County. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Eupora.

Her most valuable contribution to this life was the loving example she set for her children and grandchildren.

Her survivors include three daughters, Etty Brown of Eupora, Jetty Gary and husband, Harold, of Brookhaven, and Patsy Hennessy and husband, Johnny, of West Monroe, La. Other survivors include six sisters-in-law, Mamie Paxton Jones of Conway, Ark., Billy Paxton Earnest of Jackson, Marina Paxton Shelby of Eupora, Margaret Paxton Ballard of McComb, Polly Blaylock Wade of Calhoun City and Sudie Blaylock of Gore Springs; three brothers-in-law, Haven Paxton and wife, Mae, of St. Simons Island, Ga., and Dorrie Woods and Clyde Bailey of Eupora; six grandchildren, Ann B. Carwyle of Eupora, Allyce B. Lott and husband, Tim, of Forest, Carole G. Trull and husband, Scott, of West Point, Cathy G. Franck and husband, Lawrence, of Brookhaven, and Brad Hennessy and Wade Hennessy of West Monroe, La.; 10 great-grandchildren, Beth Carwyle; Taylor, Nathan and Katlyn Lott; Paxton, Cameron and Kathryn Trull; Walker and Courtney Franck; and Christy T. Payne and husband, T.J.; one great-great-grandson, Camden Payne; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her husband, R.C. Paxton; her parents, Willie and Lee Blaylock; five sisters, Audrey Bailey, Mamie Stewart, Irene Woods, Felton Blaylock and Inez Salley; five brothers, Travis Blaylock, Leslie Blaylock, W.L. Blaylock, Dewitt Blaylock and T.U. Blaylock; and son-in-law Allen Epps "Inkspot" Brown.

Services were Nov. 5 at Oliver Funeral Home with burial in Eupora City Cemetery. The Revs. William Stewart and Doyle Cummings officiated.

Pallbearers were Robert Blain Curry, Robert H. Curry, Bob Gary, Brad Hennessy, Wade Hennessy and Bill Willingham.
