Alexander Sloan Nibley was an American screenwriter. He is the older brother of famed Latter Day Saint scholar Hugh Nibley. Born in Portland, Oregon to Alexander ("El") and Agnes "Sloanie" Nibley. He served in the Navy in New York in 1945 before beginning his career. Nibley served as screenwriter for over twenty films including Springfield Rifle, Carson City, the remake of The Golden Stallion, and Eyes of Texas (1948), a film starring Roy Rogers. He also wrote for numerous TV series, including Sea Hunt, Sky King, Wagon Train, and The Addams Family.

Nibely married actress Linda Stirling in 1946 with whom he had two children, Chris and Tim.

Biography:American screenwriter "Sloan Nibley" entered films in 1947 as a staffer at Republic Pictures. Nibley became one of the principal writers of the studio's "Roy Rogers" vehicles, remaining in this niche until "Rogers" left films in 1951. Thereafter, Nibley continued to specialize in Westerns until his own retirement in 1956; one of his more famous credits was the 1952 "Gary Cooper" starrer "Springfield Rifle".
