Lorene Crook Degiovanni Parton
EDMOND - Funeral for Lorene Crook Degiovanni Parton, 81, Edmond, will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with David Hoyt and Russell Crook, nephews, officiating.

Mrs. Parton died Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2009, in Edmond.

Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens.

She was born Oct. 21, 1927, in Chattanooga, to Clinton Ward and Clara Jane Armstrong Crook. She worked as a telephone operator for two and a half years in Frederick and nine and a half years in Lawton. She moved to Lawton in 1950 and worked 27 years from 1966 to 1993 as a real estate broker with Bea Jones Realty. She married retired Sgt. 1st Class Fred Degiovanni on Aug. 27, 1960, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He died Aug. 20, 1981. She then married Claude S. Parton on June 12, 1987, in Altus. He died April 28, 2000. She moved to Oklahoma City in 2001. She was a member of the University Church of Christ, the American Business Women's Association, and the Southwest Oklahoma Opera Guild, where she served on the Membership Committee. She was also on the Lawton Board of Realtors and served twice on the Executive Board, was elected as secretary, treasurer, and vice president and served on several committees. She was elected Realtor of the Year for 1987 and was a member of the Graduate Realtors Institute.

Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law: Renee and Johnny Culver; Lincoln, Ala.; and Catherine and Andrew Gass, Oklahoma City; a grandson and his wife, Justin and Jessica Gass, Perth, Australia; a brother and sister-in-law, LaVon and Lorena Crook, Lawton; and a sister-in-law, Reta Crook, Mineral Wells, Texas.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Hoyt; and a brother, Ray Crook.
