Myrtle was the only girl with six brothers, children of Rosa (Freeman) and (Lonie) Edward Ogletree. The family lived in Texas during her growing-up years, and in the 1930 census, they were still living on the farm, but she and the oldest brother were grown and no longer living in her parents' home.
Myrtle married Oscar Peters. They moved to California along with the bulk of the extended family in the early 1940s, and settled in California's Central Valley.
