William Balzar Dead in Lander
Winnemucca - William Balzar, 74, Golconda resident, died at the Lander County Hospital in Battle Mountain Christmas Day.
He had been admitted to the hospital a few hours before his death.
A friend had called on the elderly man to take him to Christmas dinner and found Balzar in bed with what was described as a "bad cold."
Admitted to the hospital, Balzar's condition was found to be double pneumonia and his death followed a few hours later.
Mr. Balzar had lived in Nevada for the past 25 years and worked for the Marvel ranching interests in the area. He had been a ranch worker for most of his life.
Funeral arrangements are pending at the Eddy Mortuary in Winnemucca.
