William Hasty is the son of John and Rebecca (nee Murdock) Hasty. He was born in Virginia on 8 Dec 1780. Current sources say he was born in Ireland, Virginia. His father lived in Fauquier County, Virginia when he enlisted as a Private. John Hasty is a recognized Patriot by the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and his descendants (women) are eligible to join DAR and are encouraged to contact a local DAR chapter if interested in membership. John Hasty Descendants are also eligible to join the Descendants of Valley Forge Lineage Society. John is believed to have been at Valley Forge due to what Virginia units he was with as well as battles participated.

William married Mary Morgan Carter in 1808. Location of this marriage is currently being researched…it may have been in Virginia or possibly Kentucky. If you have any information to share to include family information on Mary, please contact me.

Notes for JOHN HASTY (father of William Hasty):

John was a veteran of the Revolutionary War. (The following information provided by M. Maurine Fraley Engel, gr gr gr granddaughter of John Hasty.) "John Hasty enlisted for 3 years, August 1776, as a private under Capt. Wm. Blackwell, Col. Dan Morgan, Febeger, Heath, VA, and Capt. Marshall. He served in one or two tours of 3 months. He was a pensioner. Battles engaged in were Brandywine, Germantown (Oct. 03, 1777), Monmouth, Stony Point (July, 1779) and some other small affairs. Residence at time of enlistment was Farquier County, Virginia. He was discharged in August 1779. Date of application for pension was July 15, 1818. His claim was allowed. Residence at date of application . . . . (?), age 65 years. Married in Culpepper County, VA, date not stated. Rebecca Murdock. He died on Stepstone, Montgomery County, Kentucky, February 02, 1826. His widow was allowed a pension and application executed April 19, 1842, while a resident of Beaver Creek, Bath County, KY, aged 80 years. She died in Bath County, KY." (Another source gives John's death date as February 19, 1826.)

Records of Kentucky Land Grants (Book G) show that John Hasty of Bath County, had 100 acres surveyed on July 07, 1819 - Watercourse: Leatherwood Creek. The author of this genealogical report, Robert Engel, has a copy of the original "Land-Office Military Warrant, No. 3096" made as a computer print-out. It is dated May 24, 1784. The body of the certificate (or Warrant) reads: "To the principal SURVEYOR of the Land, set apoart for the Officers and Soldiers of the Commonwealth of Virginia. This shall be your WARRANT to survey and lay off in one or more surveys, for John Hasty, his Heirs or Assigns; the Quantity of one hundred Acres of Land, due unto the said John Hasty in consideration of his services for three years as a soldier in the Virginia Cont. Line. . . . . .Certificate from the Governor and Council, which is received into the Land-Office, GIVEN under my Hand, and Seal of the said Office. . . . ."
