James S. Albertson was the son of Hans C. (Charlie) and Etta Albertson. He died Friday, February 28, 1902, during an outbreak of scarlet fever in the Carnero area of Saguache County. He was buried in Hillside Cemetery the following day (Saturday) without a funeral because of the fear of spreading the disease even further.
According to the 1900 Census, his father Hans C. was born in Denmark, his mother Etta was born in Ireland and he had older sisters, Josephine and Genevieve, and younger brothers Charles N. and William T.
