Funeral services for Pvt. Lyle J. Roy were held Wednesday afternoon, July 14, at the Union Ridge church near Clever by Rev. R.C. Harding of Nixa. Burial was in the church cemetery under direction of the Maples Funeral Home of Clever. Pvt. Roy, 23, went overseas in January 1945 and was wounded in action in March 15 of that year in Germany. He died of his wounds in a hospital in England six days later. Survivors include his wife, Lucille and son, Roger Kay at the family home south of Clever; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Roy of route 1, Clever; three sisters, Louella, Steva Lou and Boneta, all of the home; two brothers, Bobby Jean of route 1, Highlandville, and Tommy Dale of the home. Serving as pallbearers were six war veterans, Loren, Alvin and J.W. Roy, Clinton Gilmore, John Keithley and Leo Little.
