He died at his home at the age of 65 years.
He was the son of Henry and Anna (Ropers)Oestmann. He was raised in Grainola ane attended school there. He served with the U.S. Army Headquarters Battery, 16th Armoured Field Artillery Battalion during WW II and later with the U.S. Army Reserves from October 1946 until October 1949.
He married Dec. 6, 1946 to Ruth Wolff in Avery, OK.
They farmed near Grainola, OK. They moved to Arkansas City in 1965 and he worked as a mechanic for General Electric for 25 years, retiring in March of 1990. He was a member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church and served as an elder and a trustee. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
surviving are his wife, 2 brothers, Rudolph Oestmann of Arkansas City, and Albert Oestmann of Newkirk, OK. a sister, Marie Marshall of Arkansas City. His parents and brother, Richard, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were in Redeemer Lutheran Church in Arkansas City, with burial in Parker Cemetery under direction of Rindt Erdman Funeral Home. Arkansas City, KS.67005.
