Ruth V. Naegele, 89, of Ponca City, formerly of Arkansas City, died Thursday (January 25, 2018) at the Creekside Manor of Ponca City. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Monday (January 29, 2018) at the Redeemer Lutheran Church of Arkansas City. Burial will follow in the Parker Cemetery. Pastor Mark Mozeik of the St. John’s Lutheran Church of Newkirk and Pastor William Wingfield, interim minister of Redeemer Lutheran Church, will officiate.
The family will greet friends 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Ruth was born June 1, 1928, in Avery, Oklahoma, to George H and Viola A (Grotheer) Wolff. She was reared and educated in Lincoln County, attending a one room school house, later graduating from Kendrick High School in 1945. Ruth married Lawrence Oestmann on December 6, 1946, in Avery. The couple moved to Arkansas City in 1965. Lawrence preceded her in death on September 24, 1990. Ruth later married Roger Naegele on September 30, 1995, at the Redeemer Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Arkansas City, Roger preceded her in death on October 22, 2008.
While living in Grainola, Oklahoma, Ruth worked as a cook and housekeeper for the Adams Ranch. When she and Lawrence moved to Arkansas City, Ruth began to work in the Food Service department of USD 470. She retired in 1991.
She was a devoted member of the Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her sister Leila Oestmann of Ponca City; two nieces Alberta Kahle and Radena Eisenhauer both of Newkirk; two nephews Darell Oestmann of Anthony, and Gerell, Oestmann of Newkirk; step-children Linda K. Yardley, Gayle Jones, Elaine Engelman, and Chris Naegele; 13 step-grandchildren, 8 step-great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends including two very special great-nieces Jerrilyn Eisenhauer and Jerrica Worthy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, a brother Harold Wolff and a sister Elda Oestmann.
A memorial has been established with the Redeemer Lutheran Church. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
