Irene Louise Waldo, 86, former Correctionville resident, died Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at her home in LeMars, Iowa. Funeral services were held Saturday July 29 at the Rock Branch United Methodist Church, rural Correctionville, with Pastor Jeff Whitt officiating. Pallbearers were Glenn Sadler, Stephen Conner, Ted Peck, Alan Gernhart, Rolland Stanley, and Derek Sadler. Burial was in Fairfield Cemetery, Rock Branch, under direction of Barker Funeral Home. Irene Waldo was born November 8, 1913, at Aledo, Illinois, the daughter of Fred and Edna (Riddle) McCreight. She graduated from Aledo High School in 1932. She married Archie Waldo on April 15, 1942. They farmed in the Rock Branch community until 1962 when they moved to LeMars to operate the LeMars Café. After Archie's death in 1963, Irene worked in the garment industry for 19 ½ years. She enjoyed her family, friends and flower garden. Survivors include a daughter, Leola and her husband Jerry Britten of Zearing, a son Lee Waldo and wife Kathleen of Orange City, six grandchildren, three brothers, Vern McCreight and wife Mary, Clarus McCreight and wife Gwen and Larry McCreight and wife Clara. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, Dorothy Clawson, and two brothers, Robert and Delmer McCreight.
