"John P Allred, age 82 of Silver City, died Dec. 31, 1982 in Hillcrest Hospital. He was born July 19, 1900 in Wilson Canyon New Mexico Territory, the son of John and Melvina Vandevanter Allred and lived in this area all of his life. He was a self-employed bus driver for over 5 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints in Sllver City. Mr. Allred is survived by his wife, Belen Allred of Silver City, three daughters; Barbara Bowen of Coolidge, Ariz., Darlene Pino of Magdalena, N.M. and Margaret Allred of the home in Silver City; three sons, Richard Allred of Pine, Ariz., Clyde Allred of Tucson, and William Bill Allred of Arlee, Mont.; two brothers, Gus Allred of Glenwood, and Tritium Allred of Pleasanton, N.M.; 17 grandchildren and iwo great grandchildren. Services were held Jan. 4 in the Church of Latter Day Saints on Swan Street in Silver City under the direction of Bishop Gary Stailey. Graveside services were conducted in-the Reserve Cemetery under the direction of Bishop George Gibbons. Serving as active pallbearers were Mr. Allred s grandsons Richard Bowen, Donald Allred and Britt Bowen. The honorary pallbearers were George Whitten, Al Brown, Buddy Allred, Abe Jiron, E.P. Martinez Proferio Armijo, Pat Peraltà and Ton Lee K1ehne. Arrangements by the Curtis-Bright Funeral Home of Silver City."
