He grew up in Pennsylvania, the youngest of many children, but the only child to his mother. He worked in a steel mill before going off to war, and moved to Ohio afterwards. He married his wife, Phyllis and had a daughter with her. My mother, Geraldine Faith Beckman.
He worked for the Postal Service on the trains for 42 years, never missing a day of work. He retired and shortly after, his wife passed away.
He moved to Maryland to live with his daughter and her family. Once he became ill with advanced Alzheimer's and Dementia, he was placed in Charlotte's Hall Veterans Nursing Home in Charlotte's Hall, Maryland. He lived there for three years before passing away on July 5th, 2009 of kidney failure and pneumonia.
He is survived by his daughter, Gerri and his two grandchildren Corynne and Clarke.
