First, I would like to thank the family members and other volunteers who send me thank you messages for photographing a headstone or locating where their loved one is buried. It is very much appreciated. I've learned the newspaper/funeral home obituary may not be correct on the burial location especially cremations.

I am currently photographing Maryland Veterans Cemetery - Cheltenham, MD along with adding cemetery plot locations and connecting spouses/dependents. When I find errors according to F-A-G guidelines, I am sending correction on the page and requesting duplicates be merged.

The cemetery is currently 99% photographed, when I started in March 2020 it was 49% with a lot of duplicates and veterans/dependents not interred in Cheltenham (still have many and gravers keep adding them or duplicating what is already there instead of sending updates to original graver).

As of April 2024, there are 32,450 veterans/dependents buried at Cheltenham. There are 40 memorial pages on F-A-G that are NOT buried in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery (please read flower message). Trying to get the pages updated and with veterans/spouses/dependents relocated to their correct cemetery.

I want to give a special thank you for the assistance of Miles M, Gary Bryant (Crownsville), Mack H (VA Gravesite Locator), and my Special Angel, Michelle for teaching and helping me maneuver the sections at Cheltenham Veteran Cemetery.

If the name is misspelled or the date of birth/death is incorrect on the headstone and you're family, please report it to the cemetery office for correction, F-A-G guidelines are to use the name and dates written on the headstone, please don't create another Memorial page with another name or dates, let's get it corrected. Hyphenated names on headstone will be recorded/corrected that way, to volunteer Gravers who don't believe in hyphenated names, "This is NOT about YOU!" Its how to find their loved one and the name they used and wanted on their headstone.

Plot locations not on the F-A-G Memorial page or on the VA Gravesite Locator, the Cheltenham Cemetery office is open to look up the burial locations... these are veterans/dependents buried prior to 2002 for headstone photo request. Please call the cemetery office to find the burial location; have the memorial page updated before requesting a photo of the headstone.

If I have created a memorial page for your family member (not in my genealogy line) and you would like to have it let me know and I'll transfer it to you according to F-A-G guidelines and process. Feel free to use any photo I have taken. I volunteer to ensure family and friends know where their veteran/dependent loved ones are buried in the cemetery.

According to my family & friends, I am a research historian/genealogist, mostly long lost maternal and paternal family and friends. (Only for fun - real life, I'm a technical writer and trainer). In my spare time I locate photos of military service members loss in war or find military buddies for friends. My passion is honoring military veterans and thanking them for their service (praying it will help to reduce the daily suicide rate). I also honor active duty military & veterans families: Gold Star, Silver Star and Blue Star. I come from a long line of military from WWI to present and was a US Marine Corps spouse. I've been researching my family history for over 45 years. Every now and then I come to this site to help where I can.

Since the pandemic, I've been trying to organize Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery to match their paper records (burial locations prior to 2002 are only in their paper files, not electronically on the VA Gravesite locator website). I've completed most with only about 20 missing plot locations and the other 42 are NOT interred in Cheltenham Veterans Cemetery or have been disinterred to another burial location.

Family genealogy: Maternal - Loveless, Turner and Glover
Paternal: Smith, Perkins, Goffner and Taylor

To my family members, view my Virtual Cemetery's to find where a relative is buried if I have located their gravesites.

**Also researching Pinehurst Cemetery, Jacksonville, FL an historical African American Cemetery and attempting to document the veterans and individuals buried there for historical and genealogy purposes.
