A graveside service is planned at 10 a.m. Wednesday in Eloy Memorial Park for Vernon Lee Burns, 67, of Casa Grande, who died Sept. 17, 1988 in Good Samaritan Hospital in Phoenix. The Rev. Dudley Bristow and associate Van Sanders are expected to officiate the service.

Mr. Burns was born Feb. 17, 1921 in Texas, and was a resident of the Casa Grande Valley for 45 years. He was a self-employed real estate agent and a Navy veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife, Bette A., of Casa Grande; two daughters: Debbie Smith and Jacque Weddle, both of Eloy; two stepdaughters: Judy BanWay, of Seattle, WA, and Pat Pollaro, of Show Low; brother, Andrew Burns, of TX; sister, Edlois Merrill, of OK; two grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren; and one great-stepgrandchild.

His brother, Bill Burns, preceded him in death in 1988.
