Family history of Altamira Pennington, was the sister of Richard Pennington who moved to Houston Co. in 1839 from White Co., Tenn. She married James Walling in Hoyle, White
Co. Tenn on Jan 3, 1839. They were married by a Rev. Ozias Denton. James was born in White Co. Tenn. son of Jessie and Nancy Walling.
In the early 1850's James and Altamira came to Texas settling near Church Hill not far from Millville in Rusk Co.
Their children were Andrew, Osborn, Martha B. (Mattie),
and Mary who seems to have died at an early age. Osborn left home as a young man and was never heard from again.
James died in 1870 and Altamira in 1872. After their death, the children went to Brenham to live with James's brother Creed A. Walling.
Andrew Jackson Weaver rode horseback to Brenham and got Martha (Mattie) to marry him on March 31, 1877 and brought her back to Rusk Co. to live.
Both are buried in New Prospect Cemetery.
Their children were; Birdie, Kizzie, Cora, Jessie Emmett, Martha. James W., Minnie, and Willie Ross.
At least three sons and a daughter are buried here as well.
