Floyd Myers was born in Noble Township, Jay County, Indiana, on 19 Aug 1918, the fifth child of Isaac Myers and Emma Knab Myers. Floyd's siblings were Henry Ward, Marion Leo, Cleo Doris [Sommers], Dorwin Keith, and Isaac Junior.

After graduating from Poling High School in 1936, Floyd moved to Richmond, Indiana, where he married Gracie Edith Henderson. They had one child, Judith Ann. Gracie died on 3 Feb 1945, and Judy was raised by her paternal grandparents.

Floyd remarried and moved to Fort Myers, Florida, in 1959. He worked in the building trade, retiring at about age 80. One of his hobbies was repairing and refinishing old tools. Many of his tools are in the Jay County Historical Museum in Portland, Indiana. He was the subject of a book written by his daughter, "The Ancestry of William Floyd Myers in Jay County."

On 17 Apr 2009, Floyd died peacefully at his home in Fort Myers. He was the last member of his immediate family and was proud to have reached the age of 90. His ashes were interred on 29 Jun 2009 beside his parents and baby brother.
