PORTLAND, Ind.--Ward Myers, 83, formerly of Portland, died Saturday in Chalet Village, Berne, after a long illness.
Mr. Myers, who was born in Jay County, was a retired Jackson Township farmer. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a former member of Jay County ASCS office. He was named the Dekalb Champion Corn Grower of Jay County from 1951 to 1954.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Irma Cain Myers; two sons, Bill Myers, Charlotte, N.C., and Bob Myers, Bryant; a brother, Floyd Myers, Fort Myers, Fla.; a sister, Cleo Sommers, Portland; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Baird-Freeman Funeral Home, with Rev. Ron Bishop and Rev. Kyle Duncan officiating. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery at Pennville. Calling will be 2-8 p.m. today and an hour before services Wednesday at the funeral home.
