A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at Clearview Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Rorrer and Rev. Randy Jessup officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Carter was born Feb. 25, 1916, in Patrick County, Va., to the late Joseph Greene Richardson and the late Nancy Elizabeth Via Richardson.
She was a member of Clearview Baptist Church and was a homemaker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband in 1986, Odell Alvin Carter.
She is survived by her daughters, Shelby Joyce and husband, Bobby, Betty Joyce and husband, Jimmy and Nancy Kallam, all of Mayodan and Beverly Knight and husband, Paul of Greensboro; sisters, Ethel Smith and Doris Priddy, both of Mayodan; brother, Arthur Richardson of Ellerbe; nine grandchildren, Sheryl Bowman, Dwayne Joyce, Keith Joyce, Britt Joyce, Derek Knight, Brent Knight, April Wilson, Mark Kallam and Brian Kallam; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Ray Funeral Home in Madison and all other times at her home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 2066, Thomasville, N.C. 27361-2006.
