Irma Pratt Hill, the daughter of the late George and Annie B. Pratt was born on May 2, 1926 in Battery, Virginia. God saw that she was tired and ready to come home so on February 19, 2009 he took her hand and carried her home.

Irma received her education in the public schools of Essex County. At an early age she joined the New Liberty Baptist Church. After her marriage to the late James Harvey Hill she united with the Macedonia Baptist Church of Center Cross were she was a member of the Usher ministry, Missionary ministry and the Senior Choir.

Irma was a very caring and loving person who would tell you that you do not mess with her children. Her heart was filled with so much love that she raised several children like they were her own and cried when they left her to go to school. She was closely knitted to her brother and sisters.

Irma was employed by Barnhardt Duck Farm for over 20 years and after they closed she went into private duty taking care of other people.

She was preceded in death by 4 sisters: Laura B. Harris, Audrey Ashlock, Helen Roane, Susie Henderson, 3 brothers Clayton Pratt, Richard Pratt and Lawrence Pratt.

She leaves to cherish loving memories: her two children James R. (Denyce) Hill, Sue (Michael) Bowler both of Center Cross, adopted daughter Barbara (Alvenus) Williams of Mathews, Virginia, 4 grandchildren: Demetrius (Erica) Hill of England, Stephanie Hill of Newport News, VA, Renia Hill of Clarksville, TN, James Robert Hill Jr., Warsaw, VA, 4 great grandchildren, Michaela Ashlock, Joseph Ross, James R.
