Eliza was one of fourteen children born to Peter Fleming, Jr. and his wife, Rebecca Blount. She was the first wife of William S. Moore. They were married on Christmas day of 1834 in Warren County, Indiana. They had five children; Rebecca Melissa (Joseph Dixon) (1837-1914), Harriet Jane (Isaac Morrell) (1838-1913), Nancy Ann (John Dewey) (1839-1920), Violinda Marie (John N. Beal) (1842-1933) and Jasper Newton (1844-1864).
