Everett K. Beasley, 82, died peacefully in his sleep at 7:55 p.m. Tuesday with his family at his bedside.

Born June 4, 1927, in Daviess County, he was the son of Ora and Lucretia (Chestnut) Beasley.

He retired as Daviess County Sheriff after 16 years. He was a World War II Army veteran and taught sixth grade in the Indianapolis Public Schools for four years. He served as an Indiana State Parole Officer for 14 years. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottish Rite, Hadi Shrine, Elks Lodge, Moose Lodge, Odon VFW and Odon Masonic Lodge. He was a lifetime member of the Indiana Sheriff Association and served as state president in 1976.

Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia (Pruett) Beasley, whom he married May 19, 1950; four daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Dale Ficklin and Denise and Robert Arnold, all of Washington, Patricia Risch of Evansville and Teresa and Stephen Hampton of Yorktown, Va.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

His parents, Ora and Lucretia Beasley; two sisters, Lucille Woodling and Lucine Stuffle; one brother, James R. Beasley; one son-in-law, Mark Risch; one granddaughter, Whitney Nicole Risch; and his stepmother, Lorene Riggins, are deceased.

The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Christ United Methodist Church, with Rev. Lennie Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in Raglesville Cemetery, with military graveside rites.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church with a Masonic memorial service at 7 p.m.

Preferred memorials are to the Alzheimer Association through envelopes at the church.
Arrangements are being made through Poindexter-Hall and McClure Funeral Home.
