The daughter of Louis Frey and Johanne "Barbara" Kraus, "Mary" was the second wife of Lawrence Jacob Arnold. They married on 04 Jul 1889 in Calhoun County, Illinois and were the parents of 11 children. He was the father of 5 children from his first marriage.

Around 1910, Lawrence was the owner and operator of Haug Store in Golden Eagle, Illinois. Previously founded by the Haug family, the store was later bought back by them.

Mary died 12 days before her 56th birthday. She was buried on 30 Apr 1928 and was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence, who passed away in 1921.
