Daughter of Mary Jane Williams and Andrew Blythe. Married to Michael James Kern 03 Apr 1901, Council Grove, Morris Co, KS.

Note: Mr. and Mrs. M. J. Kern, long-time Delavan [KS] residents, will celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary at their home east of Delavan Sunday. They will hold open house from 2 to 5 o'clock in the afternoon to greet friends and neighbors. The 50-year newlyweds were married in Council Grove, Kansas, April 3, 1901. They have made Morris County their home their entire wedded life, with the exception of 1916 and 1917, which time was spent in Neosho County [KS]. Mr. and Mrs. Kern have lived on their preset farm, near Delavan, since 1920, having moved there from White City [KS]. They have three children: Mrs. Mary Lewis of Kansas City, KS; Guy Kern of Herington, KS; and Albert Kern of Emporia; also two granddaughters, Loretta and Nedra Jean Lewis of Kansas City, and three grandsons, Larry, Richard and James Arthur Kern of Herington [KS]. The couple will also celebrate the birthdays of their first child, Albert, and the first granddaughter Loretta Lewis, who were born on their wedding annniversary date, April 3.

Obituary: Rebecca Kern was born August 1, 1880, near Blaine, [Lawrence Co.] Kentucky and died June 17, 1970 in Herington, Kansas. Sevices were held at the United Methodist Church, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 20, 1970. Burial was in the Parkerville Cemetery, Parkerville, Kansas. Officiating was the Rev. Jerold Vogt and Pallbearers were: Larry Kern, Richard Kern, James Kern, Robert Adkins, Jim Burch and Orval Keesler.
