Sylvia Young Payne, 93, passed away on July 25, 2009 peacefully due to a recent illness.

Sylvia was born August 11, 1915 to William George and Margaret Edna Wilson Young in Heber City, Utah.

She was married to her sweetheart Albert L. Payne on January 20, 1939 in the Salt Lake Temple.

She will be dearly missed by her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Her family was first in her life. Her example and love for each family member was greatly appreciated and loved.

She was an active member of the LDS Church, where she served in many positions. She loved her Heavenly Father and especially loved studying the Book of Mormon. She served four missions, three with her eternal companion. In her calling she served in the Jr. Sunday School, Young Women, and Relief Society. After raising her family she went back to school and received her teaching certificate and taught school in Orem for 13 years.

She loved to sew and has given her family many hand made treasures. She loved to travel and has been all over the world with her husband. She was a hard worker, whatever she did, she put everything into it, something she learned growing up on a farm.

She was preceded in death by her loving companion Albert L. Payne, two granddaughters; Mary Beth Payne and Whitney Payne, son-in law Allen D. Ward and four brothers; Wilson, Welby, James and Arthur Young and three sisters; Erma Gardiner, Eva Young and Edith Thompson. She is survived by Joyce (Dick) Wells of Wellsville, Utah; Arline (Neils) Hansen of Longmont, Colorado; A. Lynn (Vickie) Payne of Vernal, Utah; David Y. (Julie) Payne of Las Vegas, Nevada and Julia Ann Ward of Spanish Fork, Utah, 26 grandchildren, and 71 great-grandchildren, and two brothers; David P. (Fern) Young of Heber City, Utah and Ross M. (Karen) Young of Carey, Idaho.
