Arthur was born February 11, 1920, in Heber City, Wasatch County, UT, to Margaret Edna Wilson and William George Young. He was the sixth of 10 children.
Dad loved the Heber Valley and was proud to tell people he was a life-long resident. He married Ardeth Fern Giles on May 29, 1946, in the Salt Lake Temple. Their union was blessed with six children. Growing up on a dairy farm, Dad learned early the value of hard work and was a hard worker all his life. He retired from the Utah Department of Transportation in 1986 after 26 years. A veteran of World War II, Dad served in the Army Air Corps. He instilled patriotism and a love of country in his children. In his later years, he served in the Honor Guard for the American Legion at veteran's funeral services. Dad was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He held many callings over the years, but none was more important to him than that of Home Teacher. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, two sisters, and a grandson, John Christian Harmon.
He is survived by his wife Ardeth and six children: Deanna (John) Harmon, Layton; Laurel (Brent) Roylance, Hyrum; Arthur Kent (Connie) Young, Provo; Jane (Richard) Spillman, Hyrum; Valerie Young, Heber; and Sharon (James) Brisk, Cedar Hills; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sisters Sylvia Payne and Edith Thompson; and brothers David and Ross Young.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, Dec. 7, 2007, at 11 a.m. in the Heber 3rd Ward, 240 E. 400 S. Viewings will be held Thurs. from 6-8 p.m. and 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service on Fri., both at the church.
