On January 6th, 1858 at the age of 17, Destemona Eva Wilson married 21 year old Gurdin Noyce Kenyon. The marriage took place at the home of the bride's parents, Horace and Clarissa Wilson, in Monterey, Michigan. They had 4 children, a son Sherman, and 3 daughters: Elise, born in 1859; Etta, born on 1861; and Eda, born in 1872. The family moved to California in 1874, first by train to San Francisco, then by S.S. Aurizaba to Santa Barbara. Gurdin died in 1898, and Destemona later married the husband of her late sister Mercy, Solomon Wesley McBride. After Destemona's death, her body was shipped back to Ventura County, California for burial.

Buried on 18 April, 1911 at Hueneme Masonic Cemetery, by S.H. Diffenderffer of Oxnard Undertaking Co, Oxnard, California.
