---Eliza Barton died 1852---

The subject of this notice, Miss Eliza Barton, daughter of Roberts Barton, Esq., of this place, died on Saturday Evening, the 19th June 1852., aged 23 years, and her remains, attended by an unusually large concourse of sympathizing friends, were interred on Sabbath evening.

The disease, which thus prematurely ended her mortal career, was pulmonary. During her protracted and painful illness she manifested a spirit of meekness and resignation to the will of Him whoes (sic) word says, "My grace shall be sufficient for you." Indeed, ever after she put on Christ, and became a professed follower of the Son of God, her faith was unwavering, her deportment mingled cheerfulness and humility, and her attachment to the Church ardent and sincere.

She made a public profession of her faith and was baptized and received into the fellowship of the Baptist Church in Uniontown about three years and five months since, the good Shepherd and Bishop of her soul having as we humbly trust, inclined her heart to his delightful service, that she might be made "Mete for the inheritance of the saints in light." Those who knew her best, who saw the peaceful fruits of righteousness produced by the regenerating and sanctifying influences of the holy spirit, and which were especially manifest in her peaceful and triumphant death, can truly say, "O death, where is thy sting! O grave, where is thy victory! Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord." Like the great apostle, when death drew near she said, " I am ready to depart." And again, "I hope the time will be short, and the struggle soon over," and sweetly her spirit passed away.

Oh blessed hope! That cheers and illumes even the dark valley of death! The sadly bereaved relatives and numerous friends (for who so lovely, so amiable, so good, but is admired and loved by all the virtuous?) may now raise the eye of faith toward heaven, and there behold the gentle, fond departed, welcomed to the mansions of eternal rest. No mark of sickness, sorrow, pain nor death; for neither enters where God has wiped away all tears; but clothed in ever blooming youthful health and beauty, where joys are forevermore "Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." S.H.R.
