Henry Beeson, co-founded of the city of Uniontown, deeded one acre and eight perches of land a few hundred yards east of the court house to the residents of Uniontown on October 3, 1797 for five shillings. This cemetery became known as the Presbyterian graveyard, possibly because the Methodists and Baptists had cemeteries near their meeting houses. The Presbyterians were the other leading church in town, although they never assumed any authority over this cemetery. The most recent burial was in 1906 and until a few years ago was completely encased in trees, shrubs and weeds.
